Hi bcharlow!

Did you tried it with an attached LCD bacpac? In my case the pole doesn't float...

I used the pole with my Hero4Black, the standard housing and the LCD Bacpac. It seems that this constellation is too heavy. But that's my (and I guess many others) needed equipment I use when going diving. And that happens: in the beginning it floats. But the upper part of the pole (the extendable part) fills itself slowly with water when being some time underwater because it's not leak-tight (when the lower, Carbon fiber part is unscrewed you can blow in the screw-hole of the upper part and air will come out of the spiral lock parts. When diving the air escapes exactly at those locking rings). So the air escapes and the uplift is getting less. Only the lower part of the pole (the screwed-on, Carbon-fiber part) still has air into it that gives some uplift. But the left uplift is not enough and the pole sinks down in water.

The quality of the pole is really awesome and it looks great. But the lack of floating is a problem to me...

No, my LCD was in a Removu on my wrist. I can see what you mean, though that didn't happen to me. I don't use mine underwater, just checked to see if it would float, and it did. Contact Smateree about this. They're highly responsive.
BTW, a closed foam bicycle grip (in high viz yellow) might to the trick for you.

Thanks for the answer :)

I already contacted them and waiting for an answer. I have ideas to get it floating, too. The bicycle grip is another good idea. Thanks for that :)
The point is that I got the pole to give an honest review on amazon. But at this moment I can't rate it full 5 stars because it doesn't float on its own. So I wait with my review until I checked the problem with Smatree.

That's a good idea. They are very responsive and let people test things out just to get honest feedback.
