Stickie :Batteries - What works, what doesn't

I have tested almost everything out there and if you want the full 1hr+ from your GoPro use EverReady Energizer NiMh AAA rechargeables 850mAh or larger. I get 1hr 30+ from fully charged batteries. Most other NiMh rechargeables will work, but the Energizers are top of the heap.

    1. Lithium AAA's will over power your GoPro as they are 1.5v not 1.2v. The GoPro cannot handle the extra voltage and will turn off prematurely, usually in 5 seconds.

UPDATE - Some GoPro's seem to handle Lithium ok especially in very cold weather, but the above rechargables are the bee's knee. Also the later model GoPros appear to handle Lithiums better than the older ones.

The charger i use is a Power Tech Plus but there are many others similar with a 20 - 30 min full charge time.

Fast 30 Minute Charger for AA & AAA Ni-MH Batteries

Rapidly charge one, two, three, or four AA or AAA Ni-MH batteries with this handy charger. The charger uses Delta V voltage detection to charge the batteries to optimal levels and ensure long battery life. You can also charge your batteries in the car using the car cigarette lighter adaptor cord that is included with the mains plugpack.

Specifications
• Charge at the home, office or on the road
• Includes bad cell detection
• Delta V detection and cut-off
• 4 Individual charging channels
• 4,000mA charging current for AA batteries
• 1,600mA charging current for AAA batteries
• Supplied with mains plugpack and car charging cable
• Dimensions: 130(L) x 78(W) x 36(H)mm

If you can just get Notto to read this and then actually buy some he will solve most of his problems. Did have a bit of blurring on a run on a cold day Rambo, same camera worked fine yesterday on a fine sunny 12 C.

An easy way to connect external power is to use "Dummy" batteries, you don't have to modify the gopro that way. See picture below. These are just plastic wall plugs with a screw and wire attached. The battery holder is for AA batteries. You only need a screw on one end, they make contact with the GoPro battery springs on the + and - end.

Would lithium rechargeables be good for a gopro hero 5 wide?

You can't buy 1.5v lithium rechargeables, they only come in 3.2v.
