Stickie - Getting data off your SD Card

Something not everyone realizes, you can transfer the entire 2 Gig SD card contents in 4 mins if you use a USB Card Reader. Using the cable that comes with the GoPro plugged in to the USB port only allows transfer at USB 1.0 speeds, about 30 mins for a 2 Gig transfer. Card readers are cheap and worth the purchase for the the time saving alone.

I use my GoPro for autocross with a 2 GB card and lithium batteries. The last two events I have had corrupt files. The Media Player would not recognize the formats and I had to get a file fixer to recover just part of the footage. I saw a post in another forum that I should reformat the card. I did and the avis seem to be okay from a couple of tests but I have not exercised it like I do at an event.

Has anyone else run into this problem and do you know what to do? Thank you for any help.

Regards,
Mike

Yes Mike a proper formating of the card usually fixes the corrupt files problem. Only use that card for the GoPro not in a digital camera as well. The correct format procedure is in the other thread. http://goprouser.freeforums.org/stickie-compatible-sd-cards-t16.html#p24

I always re-format the cards when I first buy them, and them dedicate that card to one device only as most devices write files in specific area on the cards.
I ride therefore I am.
