Importing audio from iTunes

Postby fullernh on Fri Jun 12, 2009 10:38 am

Hey, quick question. I hope there's an easy answer. I tried looking for someone with the same question but...
Anyway, I sucessfully imported my video, but when I went to import audio...my iTunes music is in an AAC format? And the Windows moviemaker won't accept this format. Any suggestions on how to change my iTunes musiv to wav or mp3 or something? Thanks for being here.

Hmmmm. I had never heard of an AAC file, so I looked it up to see if the software Audacity could work with it - NOT:

Audacity cannot import or export files in WMA, AAC, RealAudio, Shorten (SHN), or most other proprietary formats, or any kind of Digital Rights Management (DRM) protected file, including many purchased online such as on iTunes or Napster. Because of licensing and patent restrictions, we are not allowed to add these formats to Audacity. Future versions of Audacity might be able to support these formats using codecs installed in your operating system.

A sure fire way would be to play your ipod (or whatever) into your computer, record the audio, then save as .mp3.

Do a Google search for "aac to mp3 converter" there are hundreds of free software converters you can download. This one looks fine...

Wow ! Still having major, severe frustration with getting my music off Itunes and adding to my video. Downloaded a converter program and can't get the program to pick up the files. Burned a CD of songs I want to use, the program won't pick up the songs from the CD. I haven't tried using my Ipod yet. How does that work? Really starting to dislike iTunes.....

Play the song, record the audio on a second PC. Any software embedded in the digital file will not be transmitted through the audio.
