Wind Noise

Postby ShadeD1 on Sun Sep 20, 2009 11:35 pm

I can record audio but wind noise is a real issue at high speeds. I've tried setting it on high and low, as well as removing the seal on the case. Is there any way to reduce wind noise or edit it out?

Better to dub music or other sound over the video in post. You could try a "dead cat" which is a fluffy cover that goes over microphones, but where you put it???

i cut out a small piece of foam & placed it with in the case ova the top of the mic(nxt to the viewfinder) & found it dulled the sound a little but reduced the wind & audio peaking significantly.

that was just rubbish foam but i will go further & try higher density audio foam this weekend.. i'll let ya know how it goes.

I have been able to take care of most of the wind noise in my video editing. If you modify the sound track by lowering the treble through mid-range to zero and increasing the base to mid-range to high then the wind sound effect is minimized.
