i dont even know what a class 6 is...? i figured since they'd been advertising 9 hours recording on 32GB card and all, that it could record all the way through filling up that card. i know what you're saying about the 4gb clips like on the last generation camera though. hmm, more research to come.

p.s. haha, crap, looking through the product catalog makes me want it in my hands already even more!

Class 6 means a data write speed that will work without buffering, I've had no problems with 16Gb class 6 EagleTec SDHC cards, but there are heaps of others.

Stop visiting the product catalogue, you will drive your self nuts. ...hahaha

Hey! I got one from here...

http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... K:MEWNX:IT

Only €32 and it came with a free usb card reader that you just slot the card into then plug in like a USB memory stick... They said 20 - 25 working days  for delivery but it arrived after a week :D

Now its just sitting on the shelf in front of me while i twiddle me fingers waiting, like everyone else, for the HD Hero...

Any more handy distraction techniques Rambo?

Yep, you could try your 32G card in a friends Hi Def flash based video camera and see if it accepts a sustained write time without buffering. They don't say what class card it is and it should be written on the card boldly if it is a genuine class 6 SDHC card. Just speculating, but the free give a way reader, cheap price and no brand name or speed rating rings bells in my head. They state x50 and 7-8 MBps read/write but is that mega bits or megabytes, big difference and you can't trust Hong Kong Ebay to get the spelling right. Definitely do some testing, I'm holding out on cards till i get my hands on a cam and try a few brand name cards.

Let's know how you get on Geezer, i suspect not all cards are going to be suitable, but more info we gather the better.

A good guide is if the class is not shown on the card as 2 ,4, or 6 then it's generally a Class 2 and suitable for still point and shoot cameras only, not video. That's what i've found in the past.

i plan on getting a class 6 just to be safe/overkill, even if the GoPro doesnt require that, it would still work right? there wouldnt be any compatibility issues?

The high spec card the better generally, 32g are still fairly new so i'm sticking to 16g name brand. For sure there will be some cards even class 6, that may not work 100%, i've found that with my other HD video cams, will we just have to wait and see what other find as they start to use them. You will certainly hear about it....hahaha

It's possible a class 4 would work especially if you are only going to use 720p res which is what i plan to use most as i believe 720p will handle high motion better without stressing the processor. Compressing to H.264 takes a fair bit of work. Most people won't notice the difference between 720 and 1080 on an LCD screen anyway and i'm guessing the 1080 is up-scaled in the cam anyway (or the 720 down scaled. Looking into that but GoPro do say it's TRUE 1080p HD in the specs) A lot of sports on TV is still shot in 720P.

Now you've got me excited just talking about it.
