Stickie - List of firmware Versions and dates

Postby htep » Tue Apr 05, 2011 9:34 am

Hello,

I tried to identify all the last released firmwares for our GoPro HD. Dates are those of the bin file, not of the release (because I can't find information).

If someone can help me to find others former versions and changelog, let me know, I will complete the first post.

Rambo if you want to move the topic to the firmware section, no problem...

31/08/2010 V02.05.11 (One Button Video, Upside Down, PAL 25/50, counter-overflow, improve sd card compatibility)
30/01/2011 V01.01.46 (LCD BacPac)
01/03/2011 V01.01.50 (Battery BacPac but snow over-exposure bug on mine)
04/04/2011 V01.01.54 (3D, I can't test the over-exposure)

Thanks. I'm very pleased to have that information on file.

There is however still no way to know for sure what version you have loaded in the GoPro... is there?

Yes take a photo and read the EXIF data, the FW number will be listed there.

I have updated to the latest Fimware recently, on a new GP, and I seem to be missing the Upside Down feature.

I have tried checking the Exif data, but I am on Iphoto11 on a mac, and it doesn't show all data.

Any idea's?

Don't use Iphoto, juste click on the picture (using aperçu in french) et press Cmd + i.
See attached the .54 version in the EXIF information

Thanks very much for that, just used this, and oddly it seems to show I'm using version 02.03.24

Which is odd, as on the Gopro website it says the latest is 01.01.54

Hmm

I can read "Ver01.01.54" from exif data of photos of both of my gopros. I assume something went wrong when you flashed your gopro.

Yes, GoPro changed the firmware numbering scheme when they started publishing downloadable firmwares. Version 02.03.24 in fact is an outdated old firmware. I'd recommend to flash your camera to at least get rid of the counter-overflow-bug and for improved sd card compatibility.
